Mahmoud Haddara

Mahmoud Haddara came to St. John’s, NL in 1986 as a Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science of Memorial University. Dr. Haddara joined the Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador in the same year and became Vice President in 1988. In 1990 the Association opened its Mosque for worship and Dr. Haddara was chosen as its first Imam, a voluntary position that he continued to hold until his retirement in 2010. Dr. Haddara was the President of the Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador from January 2003 till December 2009.

Dr. Haddara held the positions of Associate Dean and interim Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; and Director of Co-operative Education Department at Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Dr. Haddara moved to London in 2010; he held the positions of the chair of the Religious Affairs Committee, the Weekend School Committee, and the Zakat and Sadaqa Committee at the London Muslim Mosque.
