There’s been some confusion regarding the method used to determine the start and end date of Ramadan. To clarify, London Muslim Mosque is following the position of the Fiqh Council of North America to determine the start and end of Ramadan using calculations.
For more info on this position, please refer to the declaration of the Fiqh Council (http://fiqhcouncil.org/ramadan-shawwal-1440-2019/) along with the Fatwa from the European Council for Fatwa and Research (https://www.e-cfr.org/fatwa/%D8%AA%D8%AD%D8%AF%D9%8A%D8%AF-%D8%A3%D9%88%D8%A7%D8%A6%D9%84-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B4%D9%87%D9%88%D8%B1-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%B1%D8%A8%D9%8A%D8%A9-2/).
Based on this:
• the first of Ramadan will be Monday, May 6, 2019
• the first Tarawih prayer will be on Sunday night
• Eid Al-Fitr (first day of Shawwal 1440) will be Tuesday, June 4, 2019
The Islamic Centre of Southwest Ontario, MAC London and the Bosnian Islamic Centre are in agreement with this and will be starting and ending Ramadan on the dates listed above.
